Good news for military servicemembers.
The FINRA Investor Education Foundation announced this week that both military and their spouses can access their Fico scores at myFico.com.
Additionally, they’ll have free access to the educational information and tools in the FICO® Standard service, which includes the FICO® Score Simulator that reveals the credit scoring impact of certain actions, such as opening a new account or paying off a credit account.
“The FINRA Foundation is providing free access to this vital credit management tool to help active duty servicemembers take real steps to achieve a more secure financial future,” said FINRA Foundation President John Gannon, in a press release.
If you believe you may be eligible and are interested in obtaining your Fico score free of charge, you should contact the military financial educator at your present installation.
This is a rare opportunity to get a free credit score, which we’ve pointed out isn’t a common occurrence without some kind of strings.
Most free credit scores come with some kind of requirement, such as credit score monitoring or a one-off fee, so take advantage if you’re curious where you stand credit-wise.
Just watch out for any up-selling that you might not actually be interested in.
